GIMP Image Transparency

  1. Open up a the original image
  2. Select the background color
  3. Invert the selection
  4. Copy that selection
  5. Close the original file - throwing away all the changes so far except what's in the cut buffer
  6. Open a new image, select transparent background
  7. Paste my image in and merge the layers so it's just one layer. I now have an image with transparency!
  8. Save the image in .PNG format
  9. Resave the image in .TGA ( TARGA ) format. Make sure RLE encoding is off
