Round edges, curves or corners whatever you want to call them.

1. R rectangle select, draw a rectangle
2. LMB → select → feather → 30 pixels → ok

Or

1. R rectangle select, draw a rectangle
2. shrink 30 pixels
3. grow 30 pixels

Yes, weird. Note that feather option causes some alpha channel nastiness to the selection so erase tool will not work properly, if you're planning on erasing the existing 90 degree corners.
