HOWTO create empty blank or single color image like black or transparent.

Create new black image from scratch:

gm convert -size 4096x4096 xc:black new-image.png
rem or yellow
gm convert -size 4096x4096 xc:yellow new-image.png

Open EXISTING image and black it out:

gm convert source.png -fill "rgb(0, 0, 0)" -opaque "rgb(255, 255, 255)" destination.png
</code>

This is for creating brand new image, 8bit 256 colors.

gm convert -size 32768x32768 -colors 256 -depth 8 -compress none xc:black tipColInfoLayer.png
